GOLF COURSE DEVELOPMENT

In the early 1960's to the early 1970's, the developers of

Whitney Farms Golf Course

produced two other local golf communities.

                           -Oronoque Country Club, Stratford, CT (1971)

                           Designed by Desmond Muirhead

                           (Gene Sarazin was a senior consultant)

                           now run by the Arnold Palmer Golf Group.

                           -Hillandale Country Club, Trumbull, CT (1962)

                            Designed by Albert Zikorus.

                            Later redesigned as a community of single family homes.

History of Whitney Farms Golf Course

The Whitneys originally established this

property as a farm with rare race horse

breeding stables. A dairy farm existed

on this land as well.

The land was purchased in the mid 1970s, and

after a three year re-design...Whitney Farms

Golf Course opened as a Public Golf Course in 1982.

During this time, over three hundred homes were added to form a desirable golf course community.

In the process of re-designing the land, the architects took advantage of the ponds, scenic views, and natural wildlife in its overall layout. The 18 hole golf course was designed by Hal and Malcolm Purdy.Yardages range from 5832 yards to 6628 yards

with slope levels of 124 to 130.

Whitney Farms has been awarded for its good value and has received top marks for its condition by Golf Digest, Connecticut Magazine, Connecticut Post and Connecticut Golf Magazine.
